Bronica SQ-Ai Kit
I just made a purchase over the phone of a Bronica SQ-Ai kit. It's a little more than I planned on spending but it comes with 4 lenses and a host of other goodies. I imagine that I won't need to spend any more after this unless it's little things.
It comes with:
SQ-Ai Body
WLF
AE II Prism
50/3.5
80/2.8
110/4 (macro)
200/4.5
2x Tele Converter
Polaroid back
2 x 645 backs
1 x 220 back
1 x 120 back
Also comes with 3 hoods, various filters, bag and complete set of manuals.
I'm really excited with this purchase and I'm glad my hunt is over. If I didn't buy this I'd be checking eBay daily to get a complete kit and I'm sure it would have cost more due to postage and the nature of buying piece by piece. The person that was selling this was really helpful and even offered help with the gear after I take delivery and threw some film into the deal. A real gentleman.
The kit should arrive at the end of this week and you just know I'll be using it for this project. :)

I think with time you'll get
I think with time you'll get there though. I normally don't carry a meter anymore - even for slide - unless I'm getting paid for the shoot.
I really love looking into
I really love looking into the WLF. So far I've used the metered prism out on the street because I just haven't felt like carrying around a meter. I'm getting better at guessing the exposure before I look at a meter but with slide film it's still not really an option. B&W film has the latitude for guesswork but not slide unfortunately.
A WLF is handy for street
A WLF is handy for street portraits as well since you maintain face contact with your subject....nice score.
Received the kit yesterday.
Received the kit yesterday. I'm really happy with the equipment. If you haven't used a MF camera of this type before it's complex at first, after a couple of hours it becomes simple as everything makes sense and when it feels comfortable in your hands it becomes elegantly simple and functional. Everything has it's purpose and as much as it treats you like an idiot with all the safety features, it doesn't hold your hand with auto this or auto that. It's a real tool. Yeah, it's a tool.
Looks like I should get this
Looks like I should get this on Thursday or Friday at the latest. Just heard from Daniel earlier today and he said it's in the mail. There was a slight delay as he sent the bag to get stitched professionally. There was no need for that but he's such a nice guy. He even threw in some film for me and notes on how to use the kit. You don't get that every day.
Yeah it's a poor mans Hassy.
Yeah it's a poor mans Hassy. To get all this with a European brand I'd be paying it off on a long term loan...
This will tie me over for a long time but I doubt this will be the last of my addiction. There's large format after all and eBay is still in business :p
We have to go shooting soon!
Oh man, thats pretty nice. A
Oh man, thats pretty nice.
A few people recommended the SQ-Ai kit to me when i was looking into medium format. The camera system seems to have a good reputation. You got a fair bit of kit there too which is good. Should hopefully last you a while...
